Moran adds “resonant gravitas as Seneca”

L’incoronazione di Poppea, Juilliard Opera Center

“The philosopher Seneca, Nero’s tutor, is Liam Moran, a sturdy bass, who sings with affecting gravity in the scene in which Nero, tired of listening to the philosopher’s ethical objections, orders his once-trusted adviser to take his own life.”
- The New York Times

Liam Moran, the only deep voice in the cast, added a resonant gravitas as Seneca, especially in the lowest register. His diction was particularly fine, including a Milanese guttural “r” that combined richly with his timbre.
