Gilbert makes an unexpected debut in Kansas City

ADA soprano Angela Gilbert is scheduled to sing Gilda in Rigoletto this summer with the Lyrique-en-mer Festival de Belle-Île in France, but had not sung the role since a 2003 production in South Africa. However, she received a phone call at 8am on Thursday, March 25 that a colleague singing Gilda in Kansas City had fallen ill and the company was searching for a replacement for the performance that would take place the following night at 8pm – a scant 36 hours away. Within three hours, Angela was confirmed on a flight to Kansas City that same evening at 8pm. After a frantic day of coaching, travel, fittings, stagings, and rehearsal, Angela took the stage as Gilda Friday evening, the 26th of March.

She collected raves from colleagues, audience, and the company itself for this extraordinary accomplishment of artistry and dedication! Congratulations to Angela from the ADA family!
